Student Policies – BestinMusic

Students who give at least 5 days advanced notice of an absence are eligible for a private make-up lesson with their teacher when the teacher’s schedule permits. Students who give 24 hours advanced notice of an absence are eligible to attend our monthly group make-up class. Students who give less than 24 hours advanced notice of an absence or do not show up for a lesson are not eligible for a make-up lesson.

If a teacher is unable to teach, BIMEC will find a substitute to replace the teacher until they return. If BIMEC cannot find a substitute, students will be scheduled for a private make-up lesson with their teacher when the teacher’s schedule permits.

Students who are tardy to their lesson by 15 minutes or more forfeit that lesson. Students who are less than 15 minutes tardy will receive instruction for the duration of their lesson time slot. Lessons will not go over their scheduled time slot to make up for time lost due to student tardiness.

Parent observation in lessons is encouraged, especially if the students are younger. Parents are welcome to ask for teacher advice on the best way to aid their child’s learning, but may not seek personal instruction. Teachers may ask observing parent to wait outside if they become overly disruptive to the lesson. If parents are observing their child’s lesson, they should leave other children in the waiting area (if they have someone else to watch them) or leave them at home.

The front desk staff and the teachers will not release any teacher’s personal contact information to anyone.  If you need to contact your teacher, call, email, or text the school and leave a message for them and the front desk staff will make sure it gets to your teacher.

Tuition is a flat rate per month regardless of the number of lessons received that month. Tuition is NOT prorated for absences, nor will tuition be prorated if the student withdraws in the middle of the month.

Students have the option of automatic payments, online payments, or paying in person with cash, check, or card. Cash payments must be the exact tuition amount.

Students whose lessons start at 3:00PM or later qualify for the Traditional Student Tuition Rates. Students whose lessons start before 3:00PM qualify for the Early Bird Student Tuition Rates. In order to qualify for the Homeschool Tuition Rates, students must be currently enrolled in Harmony, Lumen, or MyTech High, and their lesson must start before 3:00PM.

Intent to withdraw must be given directly to the front desk staff by the last day of the month or tuition for the next month will be charged and not refunded. Students who withdraw will be charged a $10 withdrawal fee.

BIMEC holds three non-mandatory recitals each year: in October, December, and May. BIMEC teachers may hold additional recitals for their own studios throughout the year. Specifics for all recitals will be provided the month of the recital.

Through our online Parent Portal, students can see their classes, including days and times and drop dates. They also have the option to sign up for recital slots. Families can also pay for their tuition online, as well as see past payments.
